i was able to make mine work for couple times only, now it wont work anymore.
would really like to start contributing, especially lucena based poi's and street names, but i cant make it work anymore.
tried removing and reinstalling everything, but it would work once, then there is an error already.
is there any upcoming EB's soon so that the gurus can help out.

I've got the same problem. Has anyone here heard of open standards?
It is all tied to proprietary Windows formats!
Without Windows it is not possible to do this, although apparently it used to be, when a plain gmapsupp.img was available.
I suppose that is progress.

hi newbie here,
i was wondering if there is map already converted thru windows. and that file would be ready for download,
so MAC users can skip the step of needing windows, and just install the road map with the gramin MAC software? it seems this is a step many MAC users dread or want to skip...
i lost my nuvi250 and just got a nuvi52.....
hope some one can help
thanks

I am not sure what you are talking about as I do not have a mac.
But the map data we produce is just a data file.
The program you need is Basecamp which is available for the mac. Down load this, then install the map, and then you have it fully installed on your mac, connect you gps unit and basecamp will connect to update the unit software if necessary, and also instal our map onto the unit.
Here is the link for you
