It is a nice/fast alternative for the route:
Caticlan - Roxas (Mindoro) - Calapan - Batangas.

This route is Caticlan - Batangas.... direct, takes about 10 Hrs.

Jan, I think (but I am not sure) that you will be dissapointed in the sleeping facilities. No cabins available and the seats will not even recline(!) or so the rumor goes......

review:
a. caticlan to batangas:
3500 php. some bureaucracy nothing out of the ordinary (for caticlan - still fekked up compared to other ports)
rider included in ticket - cheapest ticket class - bunk on upper deck. with a couple hundred of your closest friends, fighting cocks and a karaoke machine).
departed 45 mins late, arrived somewhat on time - surprisingly. very pleased here.

b. batangas to caticlan.
fekked up. all of a sudden the rider has to pay extra, no more included in the ticketticket. and they know how to send you from a to b....

cheapest ticket: 760 php, airco bunks:780 cabin good for 6: 1120 php. figured wtf might as well take the cabin, upon arrival at cabin and reviewing its safety/security situation, i decided to move up in the world and rejoin my couple of hundred friends with their fullon entertainment systems on deck .

left about 20 minutes late. docked 3 hours late due to pier being occupied by other ferry "always like this sir - every day"

cocnclusion: take the caticlan / batangas ferry do the mindoro passage for the return leg.

Thanks for the review. I am thinking of taking this ferry in January, on my return trip to Iloilo. Has anyone taken this route recently? Just in case anything has changed in the several months it has been operating. How much for a large-ish SUV? Can I just show-up in Batangas and get my SUV on?

Iloilo to Caticlan Roads

Hi I'm a newbie in this forum. I would like to know if roads going to Caticlan is fully developed or safe? I plan to take the route from Caticlan to Bulalacao then Calapan to Batangas with my SUV by next week; crossing those islands through fastcat. Sa mga naka try na po please provide me further details.
