    Pagudpud trip ++

I'm preparing a trip this Holyweek to Pagudpud coming from Vigan, I have checked from mapsource more or less the distance etc.. Can anyone confirm the ff:

    a. Nice /safe and reasonable hotel in Pagudpud?
    b. actual travel time from Vigan to Laoag?
    c. Actual travel time from Laoag to Pagudpud
    b. Nice /safe and reasonable hotel in Laoag?

Is it better to stay overnight in Pagudpud or better to be back in Laoag? Other tips from the locals please

I've been to Pagudpud once and told myself that I will never stay there again ever. The cost of the accommodations and food are outrageous. Would you believe an order of inihaw na pusit (a small one at that) cost nearly P300?

However I heard there are now "homestay" places at more reasonable prices.

Thanks for the warning, have to find ways to overcome this.

        a. Apo Idon, Saud, Polaris comes to mind. If I remember it right, Polaris is the cheapest. But we didn't book hotel at Pagudpud, we were there holy week last year so all hotels in Pagudpud were fully booked. We stayed at Laoag instead, I forgot the name of the hotel...its a new hotel, just 3 star, pretty decent.

        b. Vigan to Laoag is 2 hours probably on straight drive. But on the way to laoag (from vigan) we passed by paoay church, marcos museum (in batac) among other places so it took us 4+ hours.

        c. Laoag to Pagudpud (straight) travel time is 1.5hours +/- 20 mins. Places in between Laoag - Pagudpud includes Cape Bojeador Lighthouse, Bangui Windmils.

        d. Balai de blas comes to mind. if it is fully booked, you can ask for recommendation, that is how we got our hotel, it was recommended by a staff from balai de blas. All hotels here are about the same in terms of accomodation and class anyway.

We just relied on the GPS entirely. We just mapped out the places we want to visit and the GPS did the rest. Ilocos' coverage of our map is spectacular in detail

            Hi Guys,

            Happy New Year!!!

As early as now I'm planning for the long road trip to Pagudpud.

I've already drawn up a list of places to go and I have come to a conclusion that I can't drive straight up from Laguna to Pagudpud :-)

So what I plan to do is drive up to La Union or Vigan (depends on the time and condition of my passengers - 3 kids included). Then drive the later part the next day. Stay at Pagudpud then do our site seeing going back - Pagudpud, Laoag, Vigan, etc.

Would like to get some tips regarding our map, the road up north, and places to stay? Any tips would be highly appreciated. (No dates yet as we still dont know the school schedule for the kids).

Last time we went there was November 2010... and it was Manila->Vigan->Tuguegarao->Bulacan loop

From Vigan to Laoag - 90km - 2 to 2.5 hours of driving...
From Laoag to Pagudpud another 90km.. 2 to 2.5 hours of driving...

There are cheap lodge in Saud, you may want to lodge at Britanya resort.. and this is their number 0928-2385-762 (location is N18.58218 E120.78613, I forgot to waypoint this, I suppose)

Bergblick Restaurant, a German restaurant, I have plot this one....

                Vigan - Grandpa's Inn
                Laoag - Balay Da Blas

our map should take you to your destinations without any problem. been to those places january 2009 (take note map version at that time was probably 1.02 or 1.03) and aside from a very minor glitch (which was already corrected after i went there), our map really made our trip a breeze. map is now much much improved since then, with much more POIs and street/names. gps really helps if you plan to start your journey at night so that you'll be in ilocandia before noon. i suggest you go straight to Vigan if the situation permits.

and since you're going to pagudpud, might as well visit patapat viaduct. and don't forget bangui windmills of course.

Was in the Pagudpud/Paoay/Laoag area just before the New Year. Most if not all the attractions/landmarks(Bangui Windmills/Patapat Viaduct, Bojeador Lighthouse etc.- dont miss Paoay) as sir pokz mentioned are well marked in our map so you can plan your itinerary - this includes the must go to Laoag eating spots - La Preciosa, Saramsam etc. Should have known better as Pagudpud was a disappointment though - too windy and cold to go swimming during this time of the year:.

I was in Pagudpud early last year and stayed at Kapuluan. I totally recommend that resort.

I got this pics from their website

Coincidentally, I'm riding to Laoag this weekend and if I leave at 4:30am, I'm hoping to be in Laoag at 2pm. Then proceed to Pagudpud the next day.

Let you know the road conditions.

Went to Pagudpud a few years back. Used the Garmin 760 but the map was a bit generalized. Nothing really specified so i did waypoint a bit
