I really envy those who can find time to contribute. I used to contribute quite a bit, but things changed when I got loads of new work assignments and at the same time started my 1st business venture.

This is actually my first time to visit the site again after a very long period of absence.

In the past few months, I've recorded several tracks and even took screenshots of areas where routing needs to be corrected...but never really found time to upload them. In fact, I haven't been able to upgrade the map in my Nuvi205 yet. And now 1.07 is already available. I don't know if those data would still be useful, considering that I'm still using an old map version that's already obsolete.

I wish to be able to contribute again...and one day reach the MC status.
Same here Matanglawin. Before, I was having the time of my life contributing waypoints and one way tracks but now time is not on my side anymore. Having an 8-5 job, and 2 sidelines and 2 new business ventures and supervising constructions of it during nights made me a zombie. Too many things on my mind I didnt realize I wasnt using my garmin device anymore and I think I lost it too

Now that I got my new 255W and thanks to the judge for giving me a new unlock code I hope I can contribute as much as I did before...and hoping someday Ill earn my MC status.

Ok now since ive read all this , i still have a question. Do you gotta make a pm request to the judge to get upgraded to major or does it come automatic.

        Hi chaz2009,

It came automatically. I did not pm the Judge for this. I think the Judge will look into quality and quantity of your uploads and posts.

Maybe the correct term for it is "by invitation only" & the Judge decides who to invite to become MC...

              Greetings everyone!

What is the difference between a C's and an MC's map in terms of map quality? Would it have more roads, POIs or is it better looking?
Would one benefit more with an MC's map or C's map is all we need?

I just want to know if one must be an MC to maximize the roadguide map for gps devices. In my case, should I pursue MC status to maximize my nuvi 760?

Also, my apologies if i may sound wrong but would'nt be pointless to contribute massive amount of data if only a handful would benefit as MC's? just askin.. thank you po..

hi paullex, first of all, I'm not an MC but a C just like you and there's no map difference. Once you get contributor status you get access to the upgraded map.

Being an MC means dedication and hard work. They are the ones who always give the extra mile to make the map better. In terms of this site, MC's & Modz have access to contributions where in they do quality assurance making sure that the member's contributions are at par with RoadGuide standards.

Not everyone can make it to an MC status but there is absolutely no harm in trying. HTH
I also suggest that if you have time, try to attend the EB. You get to meet the MC's and your fellow RoadGuide members plus you will learn more...

                  Hi paullex,

Sir razorspells is correct, there is no difference between the maps used by C and MC. The only difference is the unlock code acquired by th C is good only for 1.xx version while the unlock code acquired by the MC is good to all future versions.

Contributing extra amount of data depends on yourself. Yourself means if you have time, the facilities, passion and dedication and it's not compulsary. Just do what you can and who know's the stone herated Judge will notice your achievement.

                  For your information.

                    Hi Paullex.
Razorspells and Roadguide2k is correct on map and unlock code. No map difference at all, we use completely same map as yours.

As to how to be an MC, there is no clearcut guidelines.
But i can tell you some ways which can help:
First you got to contribute big time that means quality contributions not just shit loads of it as the judge say...
then you should have time to teach newbies...bottom line, time and passion for mapping...
And being an MC is not easy, its a big responsibility. MCs are counted to make our site grow...some MCs are even into recruitment of new members...
all that and hope that the judge notices it.
Its difficult but you always have a chance to get it.

                      to add...

one doesn't really have to try harder in order to achieve MC status... it should come naturally... all of us, MC's didn't ask for it... i guess our dedication, passion and love for Roadguide.Ph was what propelled us to our current status.

Ahhh Thank you for the clarifications. I now understand.
It seems I may well be contented with my contributors status, and very well pleased to be one, as my only intentions is to contribute to my best capability.

I am now confident that all of our contributions are well taken care of.
Our MC's, Admins and Mr. Jan bears deviant but important responsibility of getting us closer to a perfect roadguide map! Thanks again to you guys and to fellow contributors.. lolz more power!

Me am just aiming for more contributions (even not achieving the position of an MC) because I want to help the community and our map to be like in the US (long way to go) but with the help of our contributors and members of this roadguide maybe someday we will have the same map as what they have in the US.
