I stay on the leading edge of obsolescence!!
"It seems to be a law of nature, inflexible and inexorable, that those who will not take risk cannot win" John Paul Jones
Though I agree with Vforce that such data will only get us motivated to go to the places mentioned... I now know that this kind of topic is a moot because we can more or less conclude that the areas mentioned, that OSM has better coverage, is because an OSM contributor lives in that area.
As I pointed out before when a similar topic was discussed here, in my home province and of course home provinces of RG contributors are very much well covered. I will agree that that because OSM is free anyway users can opt to install both RG and OSM maps, the problem is that there is no way to overlay the two together in Garmin, that would be way beneficial, the problem is that when would you know which map to use when going somewhere.
I am happy to say that I helped a bit with that Balayan Batangas example (where RG has a bigger coverage), helped my Uncle with cleaning up his contributions in some part of that area
Also by version 2.19 the Puerto Princessa map should be quite updated, thanks to a Family trip we had last November
Bottomline the important thing is that if we as a user can use our GPS to go to exactly or at least near to where you want to go, then the map is effective.
Frankly speaking the opposite (too many POIs) is also a headache, whenever I view Tomas Morato, in mapsource or on my GPS, there is just too much POIs there that it is even difficult to figure out which ones are still there and which ones are new. (keep in mind POIs of shops or restos that are already not there is also as bad as an existing one without a POI!). I do hope we have RG members in that area to keep it up to date
