    How many contributions?

    1. How many contributions are required to qualify as a CONTRIBUTOR?
    # of Waypoints/POIs?
    # of Tracks?
    # of Street names?
    # of Traffic routing information?
    # of Corrections (street names and traffic routing info)?
    # of Google map traces, etc?

    2. How many contributions are required to qualify as a MAJOR CONTRIBUTOR?
    # of Waypoints/POIs?
    # of Tracks?
    # of Street names?
    # of Traffic routing information?
    # of Corrections (street names and traffic routing info)?
    # of Google map traces, etc?

good question i think only boss jan can answer that
but even major contributors are still trying to find ways to improve our map
me personaly i want my gps to be perfect as much as posible so that nobody will laugh when my gps is asking me to turn right when theres no road or when my gps says turn left when the route is actually straight so i guess major contributors doesnt have limits when it comes to their projects there are other free philippine map out there but the difference is that we are trying to make ours perfect

      Good questions!

We cannot however come up with the specific numbers.

Let's say a junior member contributes 100 WPs/POIs and 50 tracks. Does that qualify him to be a contributor? Depends. If most of those WPs and tracks are not yet in the current map and are accurate (tracks are of high resolution, WPs/POIs in correct position and not in the middle of the road), he probably will get the contributor status but if it's the other way around, he'll probably stay as a junior member (and needs to contribute more). That's the reason why a junior member needs to PM The Judge the links to his contributions so it can be checked.

We obviously give weight on the quality (Gold Standard) of contributions rather than the quantity. It would make our lives easier though if we just base our decisions on quantity (no need to check contributions, just count them) but the map will deteriorate in terms of quality.

Contributor to Major contributor? These are members who contribute regularly even after they have achieved contributor status. You will notice that more than a few members who have achieved contributor status no longer contributes actively. They re-appear only when a new version of the map is available.

There are also a few major contributors who do not post their contributions in the forum but instead send them to Jan via email.

I wouldn't worry much about getting the major contributor status. If you contribute regularly, your good to go.
