Is there a way to know what version of map is loaded in our garmin GPS?

Pressing map info in our Garmin Unit yield insufficient info which is

Roaduide.ph
(1) Southchina Sea, Batanes, Pacific Ocean, Northern L

Would it be better if we see
Roadguide.ph v 1.14
(1) Southchina Sea, Batanes, Pacific Ocean, Northern L

afaik, that's all the info that you'll get about the map if you're checking from the gps unit. it's a different matter if your gonna use a pc.

you can add the version and any other info to the map before uploading it to your device. using mapsource, go through the usual procedure on how to upload a map to the device but before clicking on transer->send to device, click on the "map set name" button under the "maps" tab.

a small dialog box will come up asking for the map set name. untick the box beside "autoname the map set" and place whatever info you want added to the map in the input box and click ok. send the map to your device and check the map info. instead of seeing "southchina sea...", you'll see the info that you typed in.
