I found this relatively new gps from the old baul of our lab. It's a garmin etrex vista c, and its placed among the old defective units (kasama ng mga lumang magellan units as big as vhs tape rewinders). I checked the unit and found that it wont receive satellite signals, even on a clear day. My phone wins the drag race in receiving stable signals, and the unit wont even get a fix.
I tried hard resetting the unit and upgrading the firmware. The unit was able to get a fix on a couple of satellites, and nothing else. Since it's considered trash, I opened it up and checked if internal components are still intact. And yes everything is soldered in place, nothing might have gone loose.
Have anyone had this kind of problem? Can I still revive the unit? Wala na syang warranty matagal na, because it was bought a few years back.
