    Help: Baguio Routes and Waypoints

    Thinking of trying out my GPS to Baguio over the long weekend. Can someone help me? How do I update my GPS with new routes and POIs for Baguio? I've tried installing the maps already in the Down/Upload section. But I know these aren't complete yet and sometimes, the route that's given to me is not the best. Would like to be able to try out the GPS in getting around Baguio city and checking out some POIs. Can anyone throw me a line here? Thanks!

    Hi iwannacruiser, I believe you downloaded the standard map and this map is not as complete as the contributor's version.. The ONLY way for you to get the contributor's version of the map is to contribute... I suggest you read the How To sections on how to submit your contributions... Most of us started this way..

      Hi iwannacruiser,

      Welcome to Roadguide.ph. Unless you are a Contributor, you can not download the updated version. Since you are a Junior Member, you can download only the Standard Version and load it in your unit. You can download said map below;

      http://roadguide.ph/forums/showthread.php?t=5

      I've used the Standard Version for navigation before and it was not bad although not as good as the updated version.

      To be a Contributor you must first contribute tracks, waypoints, POI, etc., PM the Judge about your contribution with your unit ID.

      You can also download (into pc only) the demo version but you can not upload it into your GPS. The demo version is for contribution verification purpose only.

      In addition to the above, please read the "how tos". Don't hesitate to ask questions on subjects not clear to you.

      We are looking forward for your contributions in the near future.

      Good luck and happy gpsing.

        Hi iwannacruiser,
        Since what you're entitled to right now is the standard map, you have to make do with that for your weekend trip. Suggest you download the demo map and install that in mapsource. Go over that demo map & trace your route there, look for those POIs you want to visit, then switch to the standard map to see if it's there & if you can route to it (recalculate your route). You can copy the coordinates of those POIs not in the standard map and input these into your GPS so you can route to that waypoint POI. Suggest also that you refer to the demo map from time to (if you can on the move or at rest stops)so you can check the existing POIs against your gathered waypoints. HTH & have a nice weekend...

            Hi iwannacruiser,

            Sorry for your predicament, but we should follow the proper procedure on how to get the updated map and install it to your GPS. But still Sir Borgie has advised you on how to take advantage of the demo map, provided that you have a laptop with you on your journey.

            Anyway, I hope that you will have the updated map on you next trips. We are looking forward for your much needed contributions from your Baguio trip and along the way.
