New to Garmin

hello I'm new to garmin I use winmo 6.1 device with built-in GPS, aGPS but nevertheless google maps isn't usable since it requires internet connection which is poor when through GSM. Thus you already passed 100m before the maps appear and your already lost.

I tried to install Garmin but the version 5 requires to use Garmin GPS only and not the mobile GPS. It also prompts me to activate or buy the product. I thought this was free?

It's free when you use a Garmin external GPS with your phone. But to use the phone's internal GPS receiver, you need to purchase a license to enable it.
