Recently was in the Philippines. Before I left Michigan, I tried downloading RoadGuide software for my Garmin but found it difficult to work with and could not figure it out (no offense). I did talk to Garmin though and they said they have modules for that region or just get a Garmin unit from there which will have all the maps.
Anyway, what I ended up using was my Google-based Nav on my Samsung S3. It was amazing!! I could not have been happier. Turn by turn and voice activated. This was within Manila, Bagiuo, Cavite and all the way to Laoag.
So if you have a smart phone I suggest using it. With my Samsung S3, I replaced the sim card with a locally bought PHP40 card. Of course you have to load it. I went with Globe and the service was decent.
All I can say is that the directions were very accurate and you get the google feature along with it.
