    Hello World :)

Good Morning guys, I'm Chip from Taytay, Rizal I got a Garmin Nuvi 1360 from a relative for Christmas and I was able to try it out last night. I was reading around when I stumbled upon this site, and here I am

I was able to read the "How to Thread" for newbies and am hoping to be able to contribute Will try to read around on how to do so, though I'm a little bit lost

      Thanks

The very first thing that I would need to get is 'mapsource' right? Then next would be the recording of tracks (if still unavailable) or to record new waypoints?

Welcome to RG Chip!! Happy Holidays too!

Nuvi 1360 should be capable for 1sec track logging:
          http://roadguide.ph/forums/showthread.php?t=2263

It is best to use 1sec tracks if you find road networks that are not yet on the map, or heck use 1sec tracks and submit them even if they are on the map, for calibration purposes.

Please also note that maybe in your area there might be roads that are still unnamed, those can also be contributed as well.

Waypoints are of course probably the easiest and I recommend to everyone to start in your own neighborhood, once you download mapsource and install the Demo map, you should be able to find your neighborhood and pre check which Waypoints/POIs are already there and which ones are still not.

Have fun, and don't hesitate to ask questions.

Thanks! I am now in the process of installing mapsource and will install the demo map, as well as the free map onto my Nuvi Hope I would be able to contribute waypoints and tracks as well from my neighborhood

                Welocme!

If the mapsource does not recognize your GPS use BASECAMP.

                    Cool!

Don't forget to use 1sec track logging, actually for 1sec track logs you need a converter to convert the Bin files to gpx file, should be in the FAQ page though, if stumped just post here.

Also please dont' forget to collect street names too, specially those that you are getting 1sec tracks, how? Just save a waypoint while you are on that street and save as a street name like arvin street as waypoint name.

                      Gotcha

I have a question Do I still need to remove or delete files from the Nuvi before I upload the standard map to my device? Or when I upload it via mapsource, it'll be automatically rewritten? I ask this because I just simply transferred the standard maps to my device without removing or renaming anything. But when I boot up my device, it says that it has indeed loaded the RG standard map.

Also, I noticed this morning as I was headed for work, the device highlighted the route to my office but the highlighted route is kinda misplaced, meaning, its not placed on top of the road that its asking me to drive on (which is where I am driving on) The misplaced highlighted route is on a non existent road.

                        It automatically overwrites.

Do you have other maps in your device?

Other than the pre-installed map on the device, I just uploaded the entire standard map that I was able to download from this site

                            No pre installed philippine map?

Check with the map list in the device if only one philippine map.

If only roadguide map is there, then same as what happened to me before. Rebooting / Restarting will help.

In the map list/info, it is listed that I have both roadguide.ph and CN philippines NT map loaded. I just unchecked the CN philippines and rebooted the device
