    Newbie alert

Good day. Not really new to GPS. I've been using one (Garmin eTrex Venture) since about 2003-2004 when I have extensive use for it aligning wireless bridge antennas. However, as a tool for navigation, I only started out late last year when I bought the Samsung i780 with pre-installed NavFone nav software. I've since gotten hold of the Garmin Mobile XT software and switched to that.

A very good smartphone as it is, the i780 however had a tiny screen which isn't at all that helpful while driving. Though, the voice prompts did help out, I still long for a standalone nav GPS with a bigger screen. So then, I took the plunge and got me a Nuvi 255W yesterday, installed the standard MM map and even drove home using it. I was blown away with the display.

        Thanks for the welcome!

I have a question though... I mentioned that I have two NAV units, namely, the Nuvi 255W and Mobile XT. Obviously, they have different device ID's. When the time comes that I become a full-fledged contributor, will I:

        a. Be able to install the updated map to both devices?
        b. Or do I request two maps, each matching the specific device ID of my devices?

        Again, thanks!

I think you will get 2 unlock codes one for each unit.

Thanks. There's a small gap/channel between the windshield and the roof liner. Routed the power cable through there going through the A-pillar > under the passenger-side weather strip > behind the dashboard and into the glove box. I have a 3-way 12V socket splitter inside the glove box to power up the LCD, the hard disk media player and finally the Nuvi.

Picture shows the IR remote sensor (for the HDD media player), 12V socket (going to the splitter) and the audio AUX in (from the HDD media player to the OEM HU). There's an access panel behind the ScanGauge where all the wires go behind the dashboard, so that's about all the clutter you see in my cabin.

With all wires hidden, everything's clean and still has a touch of the OEM look.
