maybe battery's old and not giving enough ampere or juice while unplug.
Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water my friend.

if my algebra is right. everything is pointing to the battery. (unplug-not ok, plug-ok) if you plug it your basically charging the unit and using the battery charge to power the unit, just like a laptop.
well... i'd do a hard reset but its up to you basically or update the firmware.(at your own risk of course) :sly:

hopefully they didnt give you a lemon battery

        good day

Maybe the Power cable with Traffic receiver is acting as an extended antenna... maybe. Well I'm sure you will encounter the poor satellite reception thing when passing through a tunnel at a slow speed... with or without power cable.

battery should have no effect on satellite signal.
does it happen all the time? maybe you passed by some tall structures when you unplugged it. try this go to a clear location, get sat lock while plugged and without moving the unit unplug it and see what happens.

I agree, this makes a lot of sense. On some older units, you could actually plug-in an antenna to increase satellite reception.
