    Newbie from the south

Hi everyone, im a newbie here from the south side of M.Mla.,
I joined this community to learn more of the navigation instrument
that replaced the conventional paper maps. I hope to learn a lot
from this community so that I could maximize the benefits come time
when I shall have my first GPS unit... I rely so much in the maps to get
me to my destinations and it is really such a pain to stop, pull the map,
check the street signage for street names, check back on the map for
the street name, look for the grid where it is located... approximate your
location and check how far you are from your destination...haaaaaayzzzz.

Though I've heard already of GPS several years back being used here in the
Philippines...well, I was just not yet ready to let go of the conventional maps..hehehe...
I would expect my first basic GPS unit (before this month ends) to simplify the steps I normally
take, and reduce the sweats and pain I have to go through to check my location and
destination and the time it consumes to do those checks traditionally...

do help me guys... yung first basic unit ko, yung first steps ko
I'll contribute whatever way I can once I get familiar with the community threads...
For the mean time... expect me more to read, read, read, ask noob questions, bang my head,
laugh at myself, learn from the community, and have a good time hehehe... Hope to find
my first unit to get me from point A to point B with less hassles...

    welcome to roadguide

1st thing is to buy a garmin or compatible GPSr, then read this: http://roadguide.ph/forums/showthread.php?t=1526

if you wanna learn faster, join EB's or meet ups

    good day/ God Bless
Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water my friend.

Thanks for the welcome hbt...., yes i'll buy my first garmin but
the thing is Im still gathering data on what model to choose from.
Looking at the current prices of the models for a 6k~7k budget would
      lead me to the 205, 205W, 255, 255W, 1200, 260W, 265W....whew!
too many too choose from, but I saw many discussions on the 255W
and the 265W models... maybe I could start with this.

that's because posts in the newbies corner dont count for the postcount.
as long as your postcount stays zero, you can't pm anyone.
          hth
How to get the upgraded map.

          It's a sick world and I'm a happy man...
