Where can I buy a philippine map for my gps

Hi, I'm going on a vacation in the philippines in a couple of weeks. I've been reading the threads on this website to learn how to download the philippine map but so far I've been getting error and unsuccessful. Can somebody please tell me where I can instead buy an updated (not just the basic) sd card with philippine map? I just recently bought a Garmin 255w nuvi just for my upcoming trip to the philippines and would like to be able to use it while I'm there. thanks.

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water my friend.

Sorry to inform you that the updated contributor's map v1.13 is not for sale. But the good news is you can get if for free if you submit track, waypoints, corrections, GE traces among others that will help in expanding coverage of the Roadguide map. In the meantime, please try again to download the free Roadguide map v1.07. This will suffice for your nuvi and you can use it in your trips in the Philippines so you'll never get lost.

      And welcome to Roadguide jjg704!

how to contribute and upgrade if you're in the philippines?

Thanks a lot. I was able to download the free map. I'll be in the Philippines for only 3 weeks. Will this free map take me around Luzon i.e. Manila, Pampanga, Nueva Vizcaya, Zambales and etc.? If not, I'm not sure how to contribute to get the upgraded version since I'm not physically in the Philippines. Is there any exception to policy? Thanks and I appreciate you all.

nop. I'm sorry but there is no exception.
you can contribute data even if you are not physically in the phil.
one of our major contributors is presently based in indonesia and is still actively contributing.
you may try doing the same by doing some polygons (details on how to do it can be found at "how to" section).

The free map will definitely help you go around the areas mentioned as the major highways and streets are already in the map. Please try to install the free map in Mapsource in your PC (there are instructions on how to do that in the other sections of this forum) and try to simulate the routes of the the trips you are going to take in those areas. Save the routes you made. Then download the updated demo map, open the route file you made previously and try to compare the simulated route of the free map with the updated demo map. IMO, there would be a big difference esp. for Metro Manila, but not enough for you not be able to get around. Additionally, you can also mark the places you want to go to that are in the demo map (but not found in the free map) and copy the coordinates of these places so that they can be entered into the GPS...
