    sirs,
    been reading reviews all day.
nuvi 1390 or nuvi 765 or nuvi 885 or nuvi 1490?
these seem to be my narrowed-down choices.
i'm hoping you can help me pick the best one.

i'm still also lost in picking the best handheld unit since i read a while ago that the colorado 400t has been discontinued. now i don't have a unit to compare the 60csx with. and buying something without the fun of comparing it with another choice is a little less-exciting. so i hope you guys can help me with these concerns.
    thanks and Godbless!

Additional thanks to sir reiji and doc sam for being so nice and patient and helpful to my concerns!

When choosing a nuvi, better go for the wide screen which is capable of 1 second tracking if you are the type that want to see a nice display. Otherwise, the standard display with 1 second tracking will suffice.

Regarding the handheld unit, I would say that nothing could seem to beat the csx at that price range. The only down side is the small display. But if your plan is to gather tracks with good accuracy, the csx is virtually unbeatable so to speak. Ask those who own one and you'll be convinced in no time.

Sorry, but I am not familiar with the nuvi series. You can check the thread for nuvi's that are capable of 1 second tracking as it might be more useful to you for contribution purposes. Then it's up to you if you want a wide screen or the smaller one.

Newbie and wanting to be a contributor, too.

I would definitely recommend the 1390T or the 1490T, specially if you'll be wanting to drive a lot in North America. Very useful timely info on traffic slow downs or jams in freeways, giving you time to re-route. If in the Philippines, the Bluetooth connectivity to the phone is really cool, whether for receiving a call or dialling out using the soft keypad or the directory. I have both units now and am trying to find the most complete RP map out there. Help please, anyone?

Most complete map you say? Well you've come to the right place and you're in luck. The old free map has just been upgraded so that the free Roadguide map now is only a few notches below the awesome contributor's map (version 1.07 free map and v1.13 latest map) . Feel free to download the free map and hope you'll find the time to work your way towards getting the contributor's map. And welcome to Roadguide coolanton...

                Many thanks for the welcome!

I'm really excited to do the download even if I know that it will be a tough task for me to do, considering I've joined in only for a few minutes past. Any guidance is much appreciated, sirs.

And I too am also eager to start contributing as a mapping resource since I travel a lot (Batanes to Tawi-tawi). Just guide me on how to do it.

I am deeply frustrated that the important task of digitizing road maps in our country is not being given serious attention by the government. Further appalled by the lack of professional discipline in road planning, naming, monitoring and control. One day there's a road, then it's blocked the next day. Or flow of traffice is reversed just like that. Really frustrating!

But it's nice to know that we can do soemthing about it. Very refreshing to be a part of this self-help group.

Download the free map here...http://roadguide.ph/forums/showthread.php?t=2348. You need to install mapsource first to be able to transfer the map to your gps.

There you have it Utubern, if you have both (for car(Nuvi and handheld)you have both worlds, it will address mostly your concerns but nothing is perfect so I'm afraid you have to compromise.

For complete RP map Coolanton, you have to contribute and you get the map. Pls refer to link below:
