makati newbie here

    makati newbie here

    just found this forum

    i have an old garmin gps III plus (yep, a dinosaur but still useful)

    i believe its time for me to upgrade this as i can no longer load any new maps. technical support for this unit has been discontinued at the garmin website

    i hope to learn more about the new gps technology, especially some philippine street maps, here in this forum

    i saw some pics of the member's gps units and they look so good

          Welcome to RoadGuide iceColdgin (nice handle)! That dinosaur of yours can still be loaded with Roadguide's free map. However, don't load the whole map. Just select the map tile of the area where you are or where you will be using your GPS. An upgrade is your best option if budget permits, and i highly recommend the 60Csx to replace your GPS III .

            @Borgie -- yep, it looks like i have to get a whole new gps unit although my dinosaur is still in great working condition.

              Great user name, BTW. I have a dinosaur, myself, in an iQue M5. The standard map works as well as version 1.07. After 1.07 the format changed and those units not supporting NT maps were SOL. I can still use the M5 to record waypoints (it doesn't do 1-sec tracks) and it's not so outdated, map-wise, to be completely obsolete. Your dinosaur might be able to support 1.07, too.
