    Garmin Mobile XT on E71

    Hi.

I've installed XT on my Nokia E71 along with the map from here.

XT starts up with no problem but it says there is no map. I've installed everything as per instructions I found and my file locations are all the same as with a friend's E71. The only difference is:

    - I'm running XT v.5.00.50s60.9
    - He's running XT v.5.00.30s60.9

Is the map compatible with my version of XT?
Did I miss a step as I installed the program?
If you have your own instructions on the installation, please post it so I can give that one a shot if it's different.

    Thanks in advance.

XT version compatibility is not a problem, you can even use version 4.xx with the roadguide map. Sorry if we can't help regarding your installation problem, as this is not the forum for that... we just might violate the forum guidelines posted by the admin...

^ My apologies, Borgie and the admins. I'm feeling helpful today.

          @oceanjam,

I've run into this problem a couple of times on my i780. Not sure if our problems are of the same nature but I think I solved mine by going out and let GMXT figure out where I am (GPS fix). What I think is happening is that upon installation, GMXT puts you at a default location (most likely somewhere in North America) where map data is not installed. Hence, the error you're getting. After I've acquired a GPS fix, I was able to see my position on the roadguide.ph map.

Though I haven't tried it, you could try entering your current position manually. Try this random location: N14 38.782 E121 03.005 (coordinates for the Quezon City Hall). This should at the least put you on the map, so to speak.

          There's no place like 127.0.0.1

No need for apologies oj. What i meant is the XT installation process, not on how to use XT. Your tips as written above very much welcome...

let's have this matter verified with the admins. Granting that the license was aquired legallly, I don't see any problems/issues providing instructions on how to install the map in garmin mobileXT, as long as we don't patronize:hacks, keygens and the like. This is comparable to a simple case of troubleshooting.

But let's have this double checked, just to be sure.

I'll try entering a location manually. If that still doesn't work, I'm gonna try a re-install of everything and start over.

                Wish me luck!

I got it running! I had to wait a while outdoors to get a proper signal! As soon as the E71 finally figured out where I was it gave me a location and showed the map!

I'm looking forward to exploring this and eventually contributing what I can!

                  Thanks all!
