    welcome to roadguide.
Sir, as per Gramin's website, the Garmin XT is distributed in a memory card, and can not be transfered to another memeory card...so how can you install the software into your phone? Not unless you use the Garmin memory card instead of the memory card that came with your phone.

    Thanks!

Finally, Garmin is working fine on my 5800. Is there a new Philippine map update? I'm just new here guys.

my problem with Garmin xt on my 5800 is that it hangs 90% of the time every time i browse the map. other than that it works just fine in routing mode. acquiring satellite signals is almost at par with my nuvi 255.

There is, but you have to be a contributor to get it. So read up on the "How to's" so you'll know the drill. Welcome to Roadguide!

Been running GMXT for s60 series 3 for a while now. was using the old map which was not too complete 5.08 ba yun? (EDSA was tagged MAIN ROAD in some sections). After that i decided to try to find newer map and found the 1.07 basic mapset, installed that with mapsource and will do some evaluation.

What I did find was that before the 5800xm hangs when trying to create waypoints on the phone, and it took a while for the phone to load sections. after fooling around much with it last night, I decided to try removing the world basemap that comes from garmin and lo and behold, it seems to load faster now when browsing the map. perhaps the overlapping maps was taking too big a toll on the 5800 processor. I figured I didn't need the world map for now anyway.

i loaded 2 mapsets in but figure that for this phone it might be best to not do overlaying maps, the roadguide basic map is much more complete anyway.

Hmmm.. Thanks for sharing. I do experience lagging on my 5800XM when trying to browse the map.

                        Let me try this.

                          5800

5800 guys i got a question. I transferred the garmin xt prog file to my brother's e71 via memory card, it was installed but on the main menu it says that it is a trial version. How come?

                          thanks,
                          Santi

because each memory card has a unique ID which Garmin uses to register itself. so that means you need to register Garmin on every memory card you install it to.

i think what mobile xt checks is the "device id" itself and not the memory card. you can transfer the software to just about any memory card and it'll still work so long as you're using it in the same device.

elijahpaul is right imho. meaning you can transfer your MC to any device running xt and you're good to go with your maps...
