This is indeed good news! But will the map format conform exactly to Garmin specs? Or are they compatible already even before Garmin bought Navigon?

well my next phone will definitely be not nokia anymore...

Samsung Galaxy Y is just P5,000 give or take. Then you can get a Navitel app cheap and the RG navitel map free! Or wait for the Garmin thing, which has not yet been launched or tested with RG maps.

My post might sound like I am dissing Garmin for Android, but just to explain, I am saying that there are alternatives for the meantime

Sorry to dampen the party but Garmin Mobile Navigator will not be available for non-Telstra Android devices.
Meaning no Samsung, LG, HTC etc.
Unless you manage to get the APK that is and install it forcefully.

Awwww, that's bad news. But I'm happy with Navitel, problem is there will come a time that the maps will soon be outdated, any plans of making a contributor's version for Navitel?
