You reckon I should get my money back?

It's usually spot on with Google Maps. Hard to tell by how much because of the size of that blue dot and the resolution of both map and display. If you'd be kind enough to tell me how you measured your BB's accuracy maybe I can do the same thing and see how my other receivers fare.

I also have an iPhone 3G.

Interesting ... The worst I got from my iPhone was 3 meters, when I was inside the office earlier today.
I guess amf's question was if your WORST accuracy is 3m, what is your BEST accuracy (should be lower than 3m). And what application did you use to get that 3m worst accuracy?

Your using google map? Did it show you the 3m accuracy? If you have a BB then you can use the app GPSLogger or go to to options->advanced options->GPS.

The best is usually spot on, within the Google dot on max zoom on the UK map. But those are eyeball measurements and very un-technical ... so feel free to interpret it whichever way.

Why don't we do the same process in measuring the accuracy? What did you do when you got yours on the iPhone? I'd be glad comparing notes.

I use motion-x gps. So your 3m worst was just an estimate?

More like a guess-timate. Not much Google Maps can do.

Thanks for the info. I'm downloading the app and I'll give it a go later. Cheers.

@amf - I was able to get some time earlier to check out Motion-X GPS. The best accuracy it showed was also 9m. The lowest I noted was 47m on a displayed weak signal reception, 17m when starting on good reception.

So there you go ... same application, same result for best accuracy.

I did said 9m as the best accuracy I can get. You just mentioned 3m as your worst that's why I asked.

No problem ... I would've asked the same thing. I don't use the phone that much so when I get the chance I'll try it again somewhere with a wide open space like a park or something.

since this is the iPhone thread will add some other gps apps for iphone. I personally feel that the GPS kit is overpriced. The best buy for me would be the motionX

GPS KIT for iPhone - $9.99

MotionX GPS for iPhone - Free Version & Pro $2.99

The latest version of Motion X GPS now uses OSM which you can cache in the iPhone's internal memory. Cache the map when you're connected to your home wifi else you will get charged for the map downloads while navigating.

Is it just me or the latest version of xGPS doesn't have the icon indicating the status of gps connection is already gone?

what's the problem? cant you jailbreak it (that's what most frustrated owners end up doing from what i gather)?
How to get the upgraded map.

                                It's a sick world and I'm a happy man...
