Garmin Registration

Just received my Nuvi760 today and tried to register it with Garmin.

The Garmin site says the serial number is on the bottom, which I found. (17A504788)

I installed the 'Communicator' plugin and tried to register. The Garmin site said the number was wrong and it was another one (3583181697). I ran Mapsource and it confirmed the Unit ID was the one Garmin found.

Neither of these numbers work.

Any suggestions?

to register to garmin, you need to give them your serial number.
when i register mine, i only gave them my serial number and they are both (i have 2 units) okay
my suggestion is try to register again or try to log in garmin and see what your account indicate

i think its time to contact garmin support. i think their email is support@garmin.com something like that

actually i dont like to install or update their communicator or webupdater, it only give you more problem.
like what happen to me, i try to install ecoroute to find out that it wont. then contact garmin support and they told me that my serial number is valid but they're having trouble with my serial number! huh!!
they want me to send my unit to their factory in the USA. i have to shoulder the way there and they'll take care of the expenses giving it back to me.

my unit is still under warranty btw and its functioning okay except for the ecoroute

Finally registered

Tried again today and the registration process worked. But in the process I had to update the software version from 4.70 to 4.80.

Used the Communicator without any problems.

And I learned in the process the difference between the serial number and the Unit Id
