Is NUVI 50 Suitable model for Philippine map

My brother in the US bought a new GPS. His old one is a NUVI model 50 purchased in 2012. He will give it to me. He says that it works well but now he wants more features. Before he sends it I want to check if it will work here with the contributor's Philippine map. I appreciate your comments.

nuvi 50 and nuvi 50LM is a different model ?

The "LM" refers to Lifetime Maps. Buy an LM model and you don't have to pay for a new map when Garmin publishes.
