Garmin 50 locks up/frozen...how to fix?

Hi guys, my 1 month unit got frozen/locked up yesterday. It will only stay/show garmin logo. I tried connecting the unit to a laptop but it can't be detected so I could not do what the garmin site recommends. Do you have any idea on how to fix this? Many thanks in advance

sad to say, i tried the procedures on that link but I can't go further as the unit can't be recognized by my laptop. I think you are right, the problem is the hardware.
