am currently using a 265wt here in LA for almost 2 months now. only difference between this and the 265T is the widescreen format. its pretty good even for freeways. there was one time however when i was on a side street that it thought that i was on a parallel street and gave me directions based on that. it corrected itself and recalculated within 5 seconds of giving the wrong voice prompt. this error happened after the gps unit had satellite lock for more than 10 mins. one thing i like about nuvi xx5 series over the nuvi xx0 is that it shows a preview of the angle of the next turn at the top left of the screen.

i bought it to supplement my 60csx and take over car driving duties.

i will have to return this unit once i fly back home as the way gps prices are falling. i dont like paying near full price for something that you can buy more than 50% off in a year or so.

im looking forward to sometime end of 2009 where i expect the nuvi 765T drops to the price where the nuvi 760 is now. (somewhere around $200-$225)

    2 features i wish the 265wt had:

a powered docking station (or equivalent) present in 7xx series. its faster to remove and take it with you. not an issue if youre going to leave it in the car while parked - I dont, and i cant imagine any car gps providing me more than temporary duty without this feature.

the "garmin locate function" which is a handy tool to remember where you parked. (not a deal breaker as most huge parking lots in manila are usually covered)

    HTH

thanks for the welcome borgie, am looking forward to be a contributor once i get back.

one thing i forgot to mention was that on a couple of side streets the nuvi 265wt tends to give directions that makes you take a couple of rights and lefts instead of just going straight and making one right turn. it doesnt matter if you select faster route/shorter route.

        the path resembles a staircase.

i didnt notice it until my brother pointed it out to me a month ago since im obviously not from around here.

          Anybody familiar with nuvi 265WT

I have ordered a Garmin nuvi 265WT through a friend. Does this do the tracking automatically similar to nuvi 205? I am hoping to get it by the week end or early next week. Can't wait to get my hands on the wider screen.

i believe so... as long as you have the " where am i "... the easter egg will work.

              @Sir Notitots
Do you think this is a unit related issue? Or is it a routing issue of the "new" map? Where (in the Metro) does this "staircase" routing occur. The reason I'm asking is because I am seriously considering the 265t for my next purchase. My current 205 will be passed on to the missus if and when this planned acquisition pushes through.

              Thanks for your time.

it is what it is sir. but if i were to hazard a guess, id say that its a software thing and not chip related.

Where (in the Metro) does this "staircase" routing occur? If the opportunity presents itself, I would like to see if this experience of yours can be replicated using my current unit. If you won't mind, it would be appreciated if you could PM me the point of origin and the destination (or somewhere very near the origin and destination) and the settings of your GPS device when you took the route.

Kung lumabas rin sa 205, baka hindi unit/device issue. Sayang din kasi ang dollars kung may problema pala yung 265t.

Once again, thanks for your time.

am currently in LA sir. there were a few routes it (265wt) did that type of thing. one of the routes i remember was routing from costco, canoga park @ roscoe blvd to home in corbin ave., porter ranch. i dont know how it will perform in MM when i get back in a few weeks.

I'm planning to get a Nuvi 265T. What types of map are compatible with it, GPSU or GPX format? Thanks.

Ok, thanks.... I'm planning to get it thru my sister in California but I want to make sure first that I will have a map to use it here in Philippines. Any ideas?
