    change country

I can't figure out why I can't change to philippine map. I've done what needs to be done following method one:

    Method 1.Using mapsource
    connect gps to pc.
start mapsource, select mapset you wish to send to gps.
zoom out until you see all the maps which you want to load to the gps (push ctrl and minus together for zoooming out the complete region).

select the map tool by mouse or click m.

click each map you want or sweep over all the maps to load them.

    they should change colour.

then select the send to device, wait till he pc finds the gps, then click send.

after doing the instruction above I tried to change country and I don't see philippines only Australia and New Zealand

What do I need to do?

Another thing whan I did the transfer I suddenly got the message on my GPS saying "can't unlock Maps".

Can somebody help me please, I'm in the philippines an I badly need the GPS to go around, there are so many things that have changed and if you make a mistake you end up wasting your day going around in circles.

    Thanks

looks like you are trying to transfer the demo map. the demo map was made for pc install only for reference to check the data you wish to contribute if it is already on the latest map.

if you wish to install a usable map for your device, you should install the free map first (version 1.07). if you have already downloaded it, then just look for it in the map selection (drop-down selection tab). if you have not downloaded it yet, then here's the link http://www.roadguide.ph/forums/showp...07&postcount=1

Welcome to Roadguide MarcE. If you can't see the Philippines among the choices, just select any country then go out in the open, go to the GPS map page and stand there (maybe 3-5 mins) until your nuvi gets a satellite lock and shows your actual location. AFAIK that prompt where you are ask to select a country only appears if you power on a garmin GPS NIB, after that first satellite lock, it's plug and play. Oh and before you do this, please follow the instructions outlined by kuya Doki... HTH

100% agree with the Two Gurus.

        1. Please make sure you installed the right map, as a junior Member you need to install RG 1.07 first until you become a contributor, then you will get an unlock for the latest map.

        2. After you successfully installed, go out in the open and turn on your GPS, we suspect that this is the first time you actually are using your GPS, so you will be asked for lots of license and disclaimer questions from Garmin. As Kuya Borgie said if you can't Find Philippines, choose one nearest us, maybe Taiwan, or Singapore and what not. Then wait, and then wait and then wait some more. My cousin had to wait almost 20 to 30 minutes for a full fix. You know your unit has found some when the signal meter on the upper left corner has a signal that is red, when it turns green, you are locked on.

Once you lock on, Garmin should not ask for all those stuff anymore though, so just be patient.

If you have any questions just post here or in the proper thread.

This weekend I actually came upon quite a few Waypoints which were mistakenly placed on the wrong side of the road. Contributors (everyone) should try their best to put the Waypoint on the correct side.

When saving Waypoints in your GPSR, best advice I was given is to put which side of the road the WP is. Best to do N, S, E, W if possible rather than left or right, unless you can remember if you were going or coming through the road when you saved the WP.

Hmm, maybe I should make a new thread about tips and tricks on this
