One can enter a four-digit security code that requires anyone without (or forgets) the code to return to the "Secure Area" to unlock the unit. Otherwise, it must be returned to Garmin to get it unlocked.
I sure hope that you know where the "secure location" is, if you do, then go to it and turn on your unit and wait.... I guess that is how it works, sorry I have no first hand experience with this, though some of the RG gurus do recommend putting a pin code and the secure location, I have not yet done it myself.
