i also downloaded the training center. but cant install it also...

Install Garmin Training Center first, then mapsource.

Installed last week on Toshiba Netbook with Win7, had same "previous mapsource not found" message, rectified when I installed Training Center followed by Mapsource, but never had encountered problem on Training Center installation.

If you don't want to, then uninstall Mapsource first then install training center then install mapsource again as Blunel mentioned.

Yes you will need the USB to miniUSB cable to install the map to your unit, it is very cheap and easily purchased if it is not included with your GPS set.

If you choose to install into an SD card, then you can just use built in or external SD card reader and using mapsource install there. But the key here is to get mapsource working first.

Don't give up too easily!

im not sure regarding this one but i already tried installing it by clicking the run as administrator.

From what I understand the utility will allow you to install mapsource directly without needing to install Training center.

you will be the first ever who will not be able to install mapsource. there must be something wrong with your PC. are you sure you are running xp sp3?
you need mapsource to install map in your unit. there is no other way.

nope. im not running on xp sp3. It's windows 7 Home Premium
system type: 32 bit operating system

2. install training center
3. install mapsource
4. install latest demo map
tell us what will happen. post screenshot of error messages.

i'm not sure where you got that info but i've done extensive tests with gmaputil on winxp and win7 (pro and ultimate). functionality wise, i've also confirmed that it works on 64-bit win7 but haven't done any long term testing.

2. can't install training center - OS version not compatible. says that my OS should be XP sp3 or greater! (Im running on Windows 7 Home premium 32 bit)

i downloaded mapsource6157 and 6137 (not sure if right since i already deleted it)

when im installing it, it says that previous map source not found
