If I buy a 3790T from the US, can I use all the feaures like POI and JVC here?
I'm a newbie with GPS devices
Thanks.
Welcome to Roadguide- Not all features are supported by the RG map like the JVC. POIs- yes- local POIs only meaning points and interest in the Philippines
roadguide offers 2 philippine maps:
1. standard map - this is free but its more than 1yr old
2. contributors map - latest up to date but you have to gain contributors status to get it.

Yes, but not with the RG maps. RG maps do not currently have Junction view, 3D or lane assist AFAIK. But routing, POI, and of course the map data itself is top notch.
Thanks for the replies. So updating the firmware using USDM firmware is free? I read in another forum that using the US firmware here in the Philippine won't allow us to use POI (gtv, can you confirm?).
Also, what is the difference between the standard/contributor maps against the maps provided by Garmin itself?
The Garmin Philippine map most likely has 3D support. 3D is both map and GPSr dependent. The Garmin Philippine map I have seen was installed in a non 3D capable nuvi so I cannot say for certain.
US firmwares do not display the POIs "only" while navigating(except for some older nuvis).
gtv, can you post a screenshot of your US 3790T showing the POIs? I'd like to see how it look likes
Thanks.
Sorry, mine was a loaner. But I already asked the owner to send me a screenshot of his 3750. If you have more questions, please ask him directly. billputer@gmail.com
P.S. Type in English. He doesn't understand Filipino very well.
