Is it okay to always update our nuvis to the latest Garmin software available?

My current firmware is 6.50 and the latest version is 7.10. I'm using 255w.

I'm worried to lose my 1 sec track log function and losing the ability to load Philippine RG map.

if it your current firmware ain't giving you a problem, then don't update.

i agree. i haven't upgraded my nuvi ever since i bought it.
i'm too afraid also to damage my device as some have experienced that before.

I usually check the changelog before I commit to updating the firmware. But generally, I keep mine (255W) running on the latest version.
