Hi all, I had this Garmin Nuvi 260 for almost a year now with the European maps loaded. I found this site and got really excited. I'm now in Manila and testing the maps out and it is fantastic.

Please check if you can open it and if this is a track.
Thanks.
Hmmm, just wondering how you were able to record tracks as nuvi 260 don't have this function. Nevertheless, your track's resolution is not good. Secondly, I'm not sure if your log was created with nuvi on stick to road function enabled. But on resolution quality alone I think it won't be a wothy contribution. Attached is a comparison of your track and one I've made with my data logger at the same zoom level. See the difference.
I didn't have to change anything in my Nuvi 260W. I just noticed a couple of days ago when I was transferring data from it to my laptop that I was able to transfer several tracks.
Because if they are, then the Nuvi 260 can record tracks.
I know this is an old thread. I just wanted to share my thoughts on the topic.
Its the same.
Trip logs are recorded tracks in nuvi but interval can not be set at 1 sec.
Thats why these tracks are close to unusable.

Tracks from these recording are at 1 sec interval.

i tested my bro's Nuvi 260 it can really records tracks. you can collect it by using Garmin Mapsource - "Receive from Device" command or copy all file/s you find inside "GPX" folder of Nuvi's main memory or maybe on memory card also (haven't tested coz my bro's nuvi doesn't have memory card inserted)
you can open the GPX files using Mapsource or other waypoints & tracks viewer softwares like gpsbabel, gpsutilities, etc.,
as early as 2002, our gps buddies started collecting tracks & waypoints so they can start creating customized philippine map. during that period, most of the gps doesn't have the 1 second mode recording. probably the map we are using now particularly the luzon came from the old map formed by the tracks, waypoints, POI from old gps.
the more satellite the more accurate your data, even if you record your tracks on 1 sec interval but your gps found only 3 satellite the data collected will still be less accurate. these happen on highly urbanized area with tall buildings like makati or binondo, manila.
