Hi Sir Borgie,

I bought my 205w at 18K only. It has a nationwide map (according to store owner, with 25mb ++ file size, but I don't know how to verify it). Surprisingly, it doesn't know TIENDESITAS in Pasig, and Meralco Compound in Ortigas.

The gmapsupp.img is an .exe file which can't be open in MAC. Pano po kaya yun?

Also question po, if ever I managed to put in some new spots such as the ones above, if I download a new map, will it still save the spots I already saved?

Let me add some while Sir Borgie is not around yet.

Gmapsupp.img should be uploaded into your nuvi. You can store it in its internal memory or sd card. As long as you put it inside a folder named /garmin, your nuvi will read it.
Just be careful not to overwrite similar file in your nuvi. What you can do if you have same file, copy a back-up file in your hard drive so you can put it back if you wish later.

If you put in new POIs-points of interest (or spots as you say, we also call it "Waypoints" or WP), you can save it in your "Favorites" folder. It will always be there as long as you do not delete it even if you change map. Of course it will only be shown if your map is for Phils.
But its better to contribute and get the contributor's map. Those spots you have mentioned are already included in it, complete with building polygons for Meralco. I assure you, our contributor's is way, way better than any map available for Phils.

18k for a 205w? That's pretty steep coz you can get one for half the price in the US. Even if you order online & have it delivered here, it'll still be nowhere near 18k. Guess it was the promise of a Phil. map that got you, which btw you can get for free here.

Anyways, to answer your query, you can't edit the map or add POIs yourself but you can submit corrections and your new POIs here and it'll be included in the next release of the map. Please continue to check the "How to's" so you'll understand the process better. HTH

Methinks it's partly wrong as he's complaining about the coverage in those areas that are pretty much covered in our v1.06 map. What's wrong is how these seller peeps dupe other peeps...

@Borgie - D'uh!! I should've researched it first before I bought it. I just bought it so I won't be lost for a shoot in Cavite. Excited lang siguro..

@hbt - I forgot their company name, but it's in Don con-something-something bldg besides Farmers plaza. They said they are the exclusive distributor of Garmin here.

My only problem now is how I can receive data from my GPS to my mac..

Hi Angelo. You're question has been asked and answered countless times in this thread alone. Which makes me ask: have you read through all the post in this thread? But for your assurance, i'll answer a big yes. As long as you follow the instructions posted in this thread, you'll be okay. If by a stroke of bad luck something happens to your GPS, you can always ask for help and solutions in this forum first before bringing it to tech. people. Lots of peeps here are willing and able to share their expertise... HTH

Hi there. A newbie here.

So i have downloaded the standard map last night. And tested it awhile ago going to market market. My usual route is going (from my house in Pasig) going through Stella Mariz and Dr. Sixto, to my surprise, there's a missing bridge/road going to C5 coming from Dr Sixto. The bridge is called Sandoval Bridge btw..

It's my 1st time to use Garmin MobileXT for my E90. Before I use Navphone Pro (Metro Manila Maps and Cebu Only), Not that "cool" UI as the Garmin's but the bridge/road is there on my Navphone Pro.

How do I add the bridge/road on the standard map??

Anyways, I would also like to be a contributor, but can I be one without doing "ALL" the time consuming steps, as I would just do this normally with my free time. No need to give me the "Special" map with the unlock code.

I can maybe send you the coordinates, tell you what the place is.

I just want to see atleast that the "standard" map is updated and hopefully not missing any streets or bridges.

PS. I use my E90 mainly for Internet and GPSing..
