i think contributors will always be needed. new building arises, new streets made or streets renamed, new establishments opening while others closing, new routes, one way revisions, etc etc. improving and updating it will be an endless process. there are always plenty of room for improvements.

when completed, if ever its made commercially available minor revisions should be done by the company that distributes the maps on a yearly basis like other countries

correct ka dyan, but few know about it, its a good service, heck its very good service, but not really very public is it? only a few know, because its free no money to get it out to the general public by means of adverts. anyway its in the development stage pa naman i hope it will be truly available to the public soon

what i mean by in-car navigation, are the navigation units that are built in the cars, i havent seen a working PH map for them yet or am i mistaken

but what if there comes a time when you finally complete the map? and contributors are no longer needed

just wondering not really questioning you , but there is always the possiblility to reaching completion however slim the chances.

its a great system you got going here, but visiting tourists that really need the map dont know we have it, sayang naman and they wont benefit if its not commercially available...its kinda like a secret society no one but a few knows it exists. Its like we need to get the word out so more people can benefit. its a great contribution to the Philippines.

Roadguide is not a secret society for few people, if someone is looking for a Phil gps map, google will always return roadguide.ph. It's not that we don't want advertisements at this moment, it's just that we want those people who really want the map and exert effort with passion to get one. And of course it would entail some cost.
As for the "if it will be completed" situation, don't worry we have a plan for that but it will be discuss in due time.
Now can we all get on in improving our map.

as the judge indicate... its not for sale. dont keep your hopes up.
you can get the standard map for free... contribute and you'll get the contributors map for free also.

we also have doctors and lawyers here as member but they find time

If you're really interested in getting the contributor's map you'll find the time and learn how to contribute. Lack of technical know-how is not an excuse. The fact that your savvy enough to use a GPS for navigation already defeats that argument, imo. Lots of members pretty much said the same thing. But when they went over the "How to's", ask/posted questions in the forum when they didn't understand something and got the answers that they needed, they were able to get the conributor's map in due time. No reason you can't too. And as mentioned by the Judge, it's not for sale. Hope you can be part of this great Philippine GPS mapping project .

How else can I be a contributor

ako talaga gusto kong maging contributor pero ang problema ay nandito ako sa states. How else and what else can I do to be a contributor. I am all for the progress of the project, but my location is limiting me from contributing. In addition I really want to get the contributor map as we are planning to go to the Philippines next summer

Hi Jmarz. Welcome to Roadguide.
First of all, pls post in english since we have a lot of foreign audience in the forum.
We have one major contributor who is in Malaysia all this time. He attained Contributor and Major Contributor status while being there.
What you can do is trace tracks in GE. Look for those areas which have missing tracks, check if tracks is available in GE, trace and submit.
For details on how to do this, check the How To thread.
You can start with Basco Batanes.

if its first time to get signal here, go to open area, and wait.
sometimes it would take 30mins to get a lock at first.
succeeding will be quicker. hth.
