hi posthome, yes you can already use the standard map (.img) file on your gps. This map is quite limited in terms of poi's, road names, etc...
Next, have you already installed the demo map v1.08 on your PC? The demo map is what you use to compare if a poi is already on the map or not..

Also your own house is private and will not be posted on the RoadGuide map but you can mark it as a favorite or home location on your gps.

If you have more questions feel free to ask.. HTH

Oh..I just want to clarify. The TYP file can only be used on the Mapsource version of the demo map. The ready-made gmapsupp.img demo map has fixed and built-in TYP thus cannot be changed. Hence, one of the advantages of having a contributors map is you can change the TYP (looks of the map) on the device and Mapsource.

I'm sorry about my previous post. I forgot how the demo maps work. Short-term memory bites me in the butt.

            Hi, I'm newbie here.

What's the latest routable map that I can download here? Installed in my laptop and WinMo 6.1 unit is 1.06 demo.

Can I update my Mapsource with the latest?

                  Hi All,

Thanks for the reply ....... really looking forward to returning home to the Philippines. Once we are settled in I shall certainly be working on adding to the maps.

When I last worked with GPS and GIS I was researching the ability to add 3-d raster images to the GPS maps using aerial photography of the UK, to enhance the visual appearance. Almost there at one stage.........probably old hat now though...............technology moves on at such a pace. Look at 'Google Maps' for example.

                  Regards to all

Hi guys .. first of all thanks to those who've made this free map Great to know that I can travel to Philippines without being totally empty.

Anyway I've just downloaded the free map but first thing that happens is that my Kaspersky detects a worm and the files gets deleted automatically. Any idea?

p/s: Does the map covers Cagayan De Oro? I'm going over there in about 3 weeks time.

Hi Peisqo & welcome to Roadguide. Suggest you turn off kaspersky when running the file. Please search for post/thread that deals with this issue. As regards your query if CDO is covered in the free map, yes it is. But coverage is not that extensive. So your contributions from CDO would be most welcome...

Yes, windows mobile. The Roadguide map will work on your touch just fine...

Hi there. Ok I trust your words :P I'll come and look for you in Philippines if anything happens to my computer haha. Just joking.

Anyway the map is loaded into my Garmin. Man CDO is really empty huh. Hope my guide will bring me around so I can add some POI. Track wise should be complete? How can I help to develop the CDO area besides the POI and roads?
