Download windows compatible garmin installer of the standard map
I have downloaded and copied the standard map ( gmapsupp.img ) to my Garmin, and I can see it there in the directory but as I am still in the UK for a couple more weeks can't check it out. Is the .img file all I need to use the basic info and what data will I be able to access?
The contributors map looks pretty good so far and I can certainly add a few more POI's etc.. Our house is not on the map for a start!
I spent over 15 years teaching GIS, GPS and Remote Sensing in a UK university so intend helping to produce a good Philippines map through this website, once I have settled in there.
Hi I am hoping someone can help out. I have a new Nuvi 1200 and loaded Routable 5.17 to it. The maps are in but I can't see them because the map colors are strange. I changed to night mode and it is slightly better but still not legible without getting very close to the screen. Any suggestion. Thanks

Hi r21611. Did you generate the gmapsupp.img file yourself using mapsource with the 5.17 map or downloaded and installed the gmapsupp.img file available here in Roadguide?

I am loading the routable 5.17 so should not need an unlock, right? Also I can see some of the map so know it is there. How do I revert to original typ?
yup you are correct no unlock code and on the typ file try to look at C:\jklinc\roadguide.ph you might still have the "general typ 107.exe" from the last version.. you could try that.. HTH

The typ file for 5.17 should be at C:\jklinc and it's named 10278.TYP. Don't know if the 107 typ will work for the standard map? Can the typ gurus answer this?
Btw, can you view the 5.17 clearly in mapsource? If you can then it should be viewable as well when you send it to the GPS...

right. im just puzzled why your loading 5.17 when youre a C. so i guess your unlock code is for your other unit.
take a look at borgie's reply first...you might have missed some portion during transfer from mapsource.

The typ file for 5.17 should be at C:\jklinc and it's named 10278.TYP. Don't know if the 107 typ will work for the standard map? Can the typ gurus answer this?
Correct. If there is a "typ for nuvi.exe" or anything that has "nuvi" in the file name inside the C:\jklinkc folder, run it and experiment and choose what you prefer. It's reversible anyway.
Yes sir Borgie, TYP file for 1.07 or 1.08 should work for demo version.

haha. that's why I put If there is a "typ for nuvi.exe" because I don't have Phil routable installed on my PC and not sure if there are TYP exe files for that. And according to sir Borgie, there's 10278.TYP on the phil routable folder, so I assume it can be done but I believe useless.
