Hi pokz,
How do you straighten a track on mapsource? Tracking while walking with 1 sec interval makes a lot of jagged edges especially when some obstructions like tricycles, padyaks, pedestrians get in the way. Is there a way to move a track point?

You can use track tool from tools menu. But I think there is no tool that moves track points in mapsource.
What I do in that case, take out those jagged portion using track divide tool and create a straighter one using track draw tool. Just zoom in to max level 20meters for better resolution. Or you can recreate the entire track as long as your following your original track but with straighter path. Or you can submit it as is and let Pokz or Jan do their magic. Just make sure to provide some explanation so they will know where to start.

That makes a lot of sense. I have a question though. Are the tracks you are referring to for your own personal use or are you going to submit it as a contribution?
If they're for your own use, then I don't see any problem with it. However, if you intend to submit it as a contribution the data may not be accurate. Since you are walking (and I assume you're at the sidewalk and not in the middle of the road ) the coordinates will reflect the position of the sidewalk and not the road you want to map. It may be fine for alleys and/or really small roads but may present a significant inaccuracy when plotting 2 way arteries.

This track illustrates the entire Mindanao Ave to reflect that it's now 2 lanes all the way to the end as well as the extention project beyond Quirino Hwy

Thanks, I thought so. I couldn't find a move tool, I thought there was a hidden feature to do this. Anyway, I think I can try to walk both ways, one on each side of the road. Then plot the middle of the two tracks with a smoother line. Yehey!!!

I intend to submit my tracks. I was walking on the road, hence I get many obstructions. Next time, I'll try to walk both sides and plot the middle. Double the work, but it should pay off as there will be an instant cross check for accuracy.
