Default how to contribute gps tracks

method 1 - mapsource

start mapsource.
connect gps to pc
select receive from device
click receive once the pc found your gps in the popup box
Save as gdb, contribute your data in the contributors section. done.

Please use following settings in your gps:

Stick to road off. (named differently but there's the same in most garmin gps's including mobilext)
Increase sampling interval to 1s (or most frequent sampling)

method 2 - nokia sportstracker

Sir Jan, I'm not exactly sure how to do this. I don't find this on the options/settings... i have the 2.06 version.

Good day.

I tried using mapsource for the first time today. When I tried to receive the maps and waypoints from my GPS device a window popped out with this message - " Some maps could not be opened because the following mapsource products are not installed: Philippines routable5.17 ".

How do I solve this problem?

I am presently here in the US but I would like to be a contributor.

Thanks.

Thank you.

I realized my mistake. My mapsource was not unlocked prior to downloading the map.

Nope... where would you base your tracks on, that is not yet on the Roadguide map? Tracks can be generated using your GPS device or by tracings in Google Earth.

In your GPS, a track is that breadcrumb trail of dots connected by lines that you generate when you move around. This is the raw data and needs to be edited/cleaned before it is uploaded as a contribution. Why edited/cleaned? If you're going to the loo or to a nearby tree to take pee (aba nag-rhym) with your GPS in tow, your tracks to and fro will show (aba nag-rhym din ulit, hehe). Now we don't want those tracks to be in the map, do we?

A route on the other hand, can be made only if there are map tracks (we also call them roads btw once they are contributed and incorporated in the map) and when you make a route, it'll show you the roads you will be passing thru to get from point A to point B, either using shortest distance or faster time, and the driving directions. If the road you plan on making a route is not yet on the map, you cannot make that route. Routes btw can be made in Mapsource and sent to GPS. Easier too to study route options in Mapsource, as well as travel time and distance. HTH

Borgie:

Thanks for that rhyming explanation. one more thing, does this mean that we can edit/make routes using mapsource with the existing tracks in roadguide demo map already?(eg. one way, u turn etc..)
