    Apps and UK maps

    Hello!

A friend of mine is traveling to UK he has Navitel on his Galaxy tab, but can't find any Navitel Maps for UK. If anyone knows where to download or purchase please help.

On the other hand, Navitel might not have maps for UK, if so then can anyone suggest an affordable alternative for GPS?

    1. Apps for Android that surely has UK maps available, Papago maybe? How about others?

    2. Personal Navi Device (PND) that is affordable, that has UK maps.

Yup obviously a good idea is to get a Garmin with UK maps, but this I think is the most expensive option.

    Thanks in advance.

    osm maybe?
Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water my friend.

          Arvin,

Refurbished Garmin Nuvi in UK are higher than from USA, but still good price compared with Philippines as Exchange rate is GBP1 = Php70

A Refurbished Garmin Nuvi 1300 can be bought for GBP65 = Php4550 (but how to get to Philippines - extra cost and possibly Customs Duty /VAT but it will have UK Maps and city Explorer.

Buying in the UK means paying VAT so price becomes GBP78 = Php5460

          Do you consider that expensive?

          Great on the Go

nüvi 1300’s widescreen but slim pocket design means you can take it anywhere. Use to its full potential by downloading cityXplorer to navigate selected cities via trains, tubes or buses* as well as on foot. Simply tap the car icon for your exact latitude and longitude coordinates, nearest address, contact details for your vehicle rescue service and directions to the closest hospital, police or petrol station. Nüvi 205’s unique, advanced Cyclops speed camera database helps you travel with the confidence you are driving safely, responsibly and legally. As you approach one of hundreds of fixed, mobile and temporary safety cameras, variable limit or red light speed cameras, it gives an audible alert, overspeed warning and speed limit information. The Garmin 205 also comes with Garmin Lock™, an inventive anti-theft protection system that uses GPS to lock to a secure location of your choice.

Driving in the UK is not like Driving in the Philippines! They drive on the Left for a start!

These Radar and Speed Triggered Cameras, imposing Speed Limits can get costly if you don't know where they are, and doing 40mph in a 30mph limit. Investment in a Garmin with an updated DataBase that warns you of any over-speed so you should not inadvertently get caught, could easily pay for itself.

            Britster,

Thanks for a very through Garmin UK perspective. As mentioned this is one of the suggestions, in fact the first idea that I have to suggest to my friend. He is flying to UK now, so he can buy a Garmin UK unit when he arrives from Amazon.uk or totalpda link that you gave.

I would also tell him that he can either join RG when he comes back so he can get a Phil. Map and use it, or just sell it here when he gets back.

            Thanks again for the suggestions.
